How often should you detail your car

There is no single answer for every car. The ideal detailing frequency depends on how you use your vehicle, where you keep it, your local climate and how protected the paint already is. Even so, there are clear guidelines that help you decide without either neglecting the car or overspending.
Maintenance: every 2 to 4 weeks
A safe maintenance wash —using the two-bucket method and pH-neutral products— every two to four weeks preserves the finish and keeps dirt from building up and scratching the paint. This wash is not meant to correct anything, but to protect the deep work already done. If your car sits outdoors or drives on dirt roads, shorten the interval; if it lives in a garage and you drive little, you can stretch it.
Deep detailing: 2 to 4 times a year
A full detail —interior and exterior, with paint decontamination— two to four times a year restores the vehicle: it removes contaminants a normal wash leaves behind, refreshes plastics and upholstery, and leaves the paint ready to be protected. Seasonal changes are a good reminder: after the dry, dusty season and after the rains.
Correction and protection: as needed
Paint correction is not periodic maintenance but a one-off intervention when swirl marks, holograms or marks that dull the color appear. Once corrected and protected with a ceramic coating, the paint needs fewer interventions: the coating reduces how often and how hard you have to wash, and keeps the gloss for months.
Signs your car needs a detail
There are clear signs: water no longer beads and rolls off the paint, the surface feels rough to the touch, the headlights look cloudy, or the interior smells stuffy. Any of these means it is time for a professional service before the damage becomes permanent.
